The Pack Theory
of
Dog Training
 |
There seems to be as many
methods of training dogs as there are breeds of dogs. Good
Dog's method of obedience training incorporates dog
psychology and pack theory. The "Good Dog" method
of training is not about staring contests, alpha rolls, displays
of
domination, or forcing your
will on the dog.
Dogs are social animals that
live in packs, and they instinctively follow calm, dominant
leaders. In the domesticated dog world,
you and your family are your dog's pack.
If you don't understand how to act, and how to appear to your dog as a
calm, dominant leader, your dog's natural instincts will fill in the
blanks and
turn the dog from a follower into a leader.
The lack of proper canine
leadership is one of the major reasons why most dog training fails to produce
long term results.

Negative Reinforcement
will work, but...
Dogs learn through
associations, both positive and negative. You can yell,
roll up newspapers, throw things, shake pop cans full of pennies, squirt them with water, or
use electric shock,
and a dog will learn to react
from fear, and negative association.
At Good Dog, we know that dogs can be taught
obedience training, and most behavior correction through positive
associations, and without pain or fear.

Negative Reinforcement
is not the way!

DOG PSYCHOLOGY
The
right way to a
"Good Dog!" |
Dogs do not naturally understand our
complex human language. If you examine the average dog owner yelling at their dog to come, or trying to stop the dog from doing
something undesirable, the lack of control is obvious. Dogs become
confused when we try to communicate with them using the human language.
|

|
|
 |
This is why you must learn to communicate with your dog using
canine language and signals the dog does understand if you want the dog
to respond to your commands. When you do this, your dog learns to
respect you as their leader, and obedience training becomes a
positive experience for the dog and human. This is dog training using
dog psychology.
|
|
With our approach, obedience training
becomes a natural part of behavior that your dog will understand, and
you will enjoy. Incorporating dog psychology with positive reinforcement
makes the obedience portion of the training safe, easy, progress
quickly, and fun for you and your dog!

|
|
The "Good
Dog!" method of dog training uses safe, humane,
positive reinforcement training techniques, that produce happy, balanced,
well behaved dogs. Our dog psychology and pack training methods are naturally understood by every breed
from Tea Cup Chihuahua
to Great Danes!
