| On Sunday May 21, 2006 our pack grew by one canine. Meet "Daisy", a
one year old female Beagle/spaniel mix that we rescued from the Dane
County Humane Society. Daisy is a wonderful little dog, but she came to us
with no training or housebreaking. Daisy is my son's dog, and he
will be responsible for training Daisy using the "Good Dog!" pack
method. At fourteen and a half, Dillen has good dog handling skills, and
will be working with Daisy everyday on her basic training. Please stop
back and check up on their progress. We will be posting pictures and
comments weekly. Soon Daisy will be a "Good Dog!" too! |

| July 2006- Daisy continues to do well in her new home. She came
to us from a home where she learned a number of bad habits. She is now
house broken, and has learned to sit patiently at feeding time, and when
entering and leaving the house. She can be a little bit possessive, but
she is learning to share toys and space with her pack mates. |

| Having Beagle in her blood, she thinks our two cats where made for
chasing, but Alley, our six year old tabby has taught her differently. We
continue to work on Daisy's obedience training daily. We have hopes that
she will pass the test to become a "Therapy Dog", and begin working in the
cancer ward of the children's hospitals in Madison. |

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2006
Using the
"Good Dog" pack method, Daisy has been taught to wait calmly and politely
at the door way before entering and leaving the house. This prevents "door
darting". She will wait until released by command. |
|
The same goes for eating. Here Daisy waits
patiently to be
released to eat her dinner.

I got you now! |
| Working on obedience training with a dog from a rescue shelter can
pose unique problems. Daisy is a perfect example. At one year old, she
wasn't house broken, had no canine social skills, and didn't respond to
any commands. But with consistent work and a good training plan, most dogs
can be rehabilitated and trained to be Good Dogs! |

Call it a tie! |

Update November 2006
Daisy isn't crazy about going outside in the cold, so we thought a
jacket would help her stay warm. |
| Here Daisy and Inka wait to be let outside. Inka loves the cold, and
with a shepherds coat she doesn't really need the coat as much as Daisy
does. |

Remember I said Daisy thinks cats are for chasing? Using our pack training
method, Daisy has learned the kitties are part of the pack too, and not a
snack or toy! Here she shares some sunshine with our cat Allie. |
