ABOUT THE OWNER

Ken Wedel began training dogs in 1978 with an Irish Spaniel/Shepherd mix he named Crystal. Every dog he has owned and trained since has been trained at the advanced level and able walk through crowds of people without being on a leash, and responding to hand commands as well as the basic and advanced obedience commands. Ken uses only positive re-enforcement along with his pack theory and dog psychology training methods. These methods are safe, humane, and naturally understood by the dog and they produce great results.

Ken's method of dog training focuses on understanding the world from the dog's point of view, and using the dog's natural instincts, body language and energy to create positive behavior. Dog owners have sought his advice from as far away as California, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico New York, as well as Canada. Dog owners have begun bringing their dogs to the newly opened K-9 Education Center for training and behavior modification from as far away as Minneapolis, Milwaukee and Chicago.

" I love working with dogs of all breeds and ages, and I love teaching people to have better relationships with their dogs. I am proud to be a voting member of the Dane County Humane Society and my teenage son and I volunteer as canine companions, socializing and training shelter dogs to help make them more adoptable. I offer dog bite prevention work shops at the DCHS and through out the community in an attempt to reduce the number of serious dog bites experienced by children each year. I am also a registered Dog Care Merit Badge councilor with the Boy Scouts of America, and I established the Boy Scout merit badge program at the Dane County Humane Society."

Ken says that he believes that dogs are one of the greatest gifts we have been given and that most behavior problems dogs display are caused by their human owners and can be corrected with the right knowledge and training. He began training dogs professionally because he wanted to help other dog owners experience the rewards and joy of owning a well trained dog. Ken is available for private one on one training in your home or at the K-9 Education Center  just north of Madison Wisconsin.
